Gavmundo,
I just print it off (a couple of copies in case I balls one up) from the web-site and fill it out. Ring the consulate, as I think under "purpose" you just put "private" and the rest is somewhat straightforward.

The document you get from Russia should have in cyrillic "PRIGLASHENIE" on it. I found they included the number on it in the "additional information" section of the actual visa itself. The purpose of entry should be in cyrllic "CHASTNAYA" on the visa as well.

You and the "invitor" have to go together to Ovir to fill out a form and get yourself registered within 3 working days.

Yea thanks for that. I've sent it all off now. I downloaded an App form from the Consulate's website and printed it off. I read up on the Migration card info on the Consulate site and will register within three days.

WOOOHOOOOOO Got my Visa back at last. Now let me get this right cos i was getting confused thinking i needed the Invitation back to present with my other documents in Moscow but didn't get that back so guess not!?

My Visa is stamped 26.09.03/10.10.03. I'm only going for a week so that should be fine but i thought it was for 3 months max?

There's also an Arrival and Departure Card so i guess this is my entry and exit. So just to confirm as a Private Visit Visa this is all i need? I don't actually need the Invitation to take as well? I suppose not ... as obviously they wouldn't have issed the Visa in the first place if i didn't have the invitation!

Gavmundo,
Shock, horror & mega scandal Shocked ! I checked my own private visa for when I last went, and mine was only for two months!! Luckily I only went for one month! My other Private ones have been the full three months.
What I get in Oz back from the embassy is : Passport with fresh visa, arrival/departure card stapled in it and a migration card. Don't sweat if you haven't got a migration card, just fill one out on arrival BEFORE you front to the Border Control booth, or get one on the plane.
Nothing else is needed. I always photocopy my passport and other doco before I go and keep it handy. Stuff like hotel vouchers etc etc.

Well i got back last week from a week in Moscow and wow what a great place!!
Admittedly i'm a small town guy and don't have much experience of the bigger cites but Moscow is great. Everything's open ... forever Laughing In Britain the whole country closes down about 5pm besides pubs and supermarkets etc. On my return to Manchester at 10:30pm i found the last train was at 7pm and the next train north wasn't till 2pm on Sunday!!! Rolling Eyes

Didn't manage to get to St Petersberg but whent to the Bolshoi and to a Mariah Carey Concert, visited Red Sqare which was closed everyday for some reason but you could still see the Cathedral and Lenin's Tomb. visited a few Museums and a couple of Cathedrals.

Frequented a few bars and restaurants. Bagel the Canadian place is real tasty Smile Was amused to see a Chain of John Bull Pubs .... better sevice than i've ever experienced in a pub Laughing

I have to admit i didn't enjoy the Metro ... not used to so many people at Rush Hour and your Car Drivers are quite insane. Really enjoyed myself and can't wait to return in a few months!
