I am hoping that someone might help me with a private invitation visa problem. My Russian wife has made an invitation for me to come to Russia. I am now back in the UK, as my previous invitation visa has run out. I am now waiting for my official invitation, which my wife will soon post to me by DHL. When I receive it , I will go the Russian Embassy and go through the formalities of being issued a Personal invitation visa.

The problem is, that I have lost my passport. No problem I thought, I will get another one. But my wife informs me that all the information was taken on my old passport, and that the Russian Embassy will refuse my application on that basis. And that another invitation will have to be processed, and this can take as long as two or three months again. And more expense. Can anyone let me know if this is true. I was hoping to back in Moscow with my wife on April 16th,, this year.

Don't worry. This problem is easy to solve.

Just get a business visa from this website and take the option of "Full Russian Visa Processing" so that their UK agent goes to the embassy on your behalf. You may be able to get it done in time for your flight.

Since you are getting a business visa, consider getting a one-year multi-entry visa so this does not happen again.

Make sure to investigate some business opportunities while you are in Russia. Have some meetings with her relatives about business opportunities that you could work at to your mutual benefit. After all, you now have connections in Russia, and the Russian relatives have connections in the UK. Make it work for both parties. That's what business visas are for.

Thank you for your advise, I do appreciate the advise you have given , and may well do this, because the business visa will be quicker. The reason I have personal invition is that a personal invitation visa is required if I am going to apply for a temporary residential visa, which will give me the right to work. But I certainly dont want wait for the next invitation from my wife. Another piece of advise I got from someone else was to get a tourist visa for 30 days, and hope my wifes personal invitation will be ready soon after I return to the UK again. I am not sure yet, I will check up with the Russian Embassy to see what the situation is.
