So if this is a bar, why do they want to charge an entrance fee? They called militsia, I explained the problem to an officer in both bad spanish and he agreed I shouldn t have to pay anything...It was a weird but fun experience Laughing

As I know, its work time: 12.30 a.m. - 4.00 a.m., after 9.00 p.m. there is a show with strip dances, and if you want to visit this bar after 9.00 p.m., you should charge entrance fee (it's about 5$). If you come there earlier and plan to stay, you'll be asked to pay an entrance fee. It's just their rule Smile

Ok i understand better...well at 3 30 am there wasn t much show left, just some few lovely fully dressed goons who promissed to keep us inside till the morning if we didnt pay the fee. Looks like we were more patient than them since we were allowed our way out...for free Very Happy

The best and SAFEST way to Kazan is through Frankfurt via Luftstanza - from Frankfurt to Samara, then to Kazan. No need for expensive and dangerous lay overs in Moscow that way! If you are coming from the US- and can get a good deal on the non-stop from Portland or New york to frankfurt- it is very cheap to add on the ticket to Kazan- it was about 100 dollars more per ticket for me than going through Moscow- but I didn't have to get a motel in Moscow either!

Try www.s7.ru also. They have back to back flights from Frankfurt to Moscow to Kazan.

Luftstanza?

I think it depends upon where you're flying from.

Frankfurt - Kazan is very expensive for Europeans, compared to a London or Amsterdam to Moscow flight, then train.

Lufthansa charge about three times that.

You used to be able to fly Turkish Airlines from Frankfurt to Kazan - but again it was expensive and nearly always fully booked.

I may be out of date of course.

Safety? I flew Kazan - Moscow on an internal flight. Oil Mafia bandits with gold chains who were driven to the jet in bodyguarded SUVs. The train is safer - honestly.

I went twice by flight without a problem and never met Gangster rapper Volkov at the airport. Only thing was that I nearly got abducted by some Swedish Hockey players who wanted me to play hockey against them

I travelled train, plane, bus and automobile. My preference is plane.

I live in Anchorage Alaska- 12 hour time difference from Kazan, literally half way around the world!

I had to fly to New York the first time, and with a pregnant wife and 2 year old baby girl, I got a hotel before the second leg! The flight with a small baby girl and pregnant wife was hell itself to Frankfurt- but not so bad from Frankfurt to Sammara to Kazan, and quite entertaining from my POV. First trip- plain was mostly full of Neauvo-Rooskies, or children really, of Neauvo-Rooskies, travelling abroad.

Very unusual to an American to see so many drinking young poeple! Then, on the way from Samara to Kazan, many poeple got off and on the airplane, and the age changed- and everyone proceeded to get pissy drunk- and one couple decided to make near-love in another seat LOL

Then, I watched as one guy stole some stuff from another guy- both appearing to be rather rich and not needing to steal?

All on Lufstanza!

Moscow- now this was in 2000, was very dangerous I thought, even from a guy that has travelled as much as I, and the cabs were awful and full of theives. I would not have attempted and did not attempt it with a family- though Moscow might have changed as much as the rest of Russia in that time.
