Do Russians wish Russia had not sold its Alaskan territory to the U.S.? Just wondering what Russians think about this part of Russian history.

Russia never controlled alaska. there were less than 1000 people in 3 forts. And they were unable to leave them because of indians. Thanks to yankees, indians got guns, and russian settlers were in big danger. selling alaska was the only right way.otherwise russia would lose it without any reward

Skotunok,

I think you're version is a bit subjective and open to debate, but, answering the original question, no, I don't think your average Russian could give two hoots about whether Russia sold Alaska to the US or not. Maybe, and I doubt it, there are people in the province of Chukhotka (the region bordering Alaska in the Bearing Straights) that might remember and regret the deal, but I highly doubt it. I think you'd be hard-pressed to find any Russians that really give a sh*t about it.

Just my two cents,

Must've been a slow news day.
