Hey,
I was wondering if anyone has any stories or information regarding teaching English in Russia. I am just curious. I was wondering what the update was.

I am sure it is changing all the time so I don't want to go through the older posts. I have been to Dave's ESL Cafe and a few other sites but I thought I'd ask the Russians and those directly involved, here.

I am mostly curious as I think it's probably a good experience (or the potential for a good experience) and you can return with a lot of stories from your trip. I am interested in hearing the perspective of native Russians too. Does it bother you or have you had interactions with any teachers?

I assume that if you don't have the upgraded or related education, you might as well not waste the money but if you want to enter the teaching field on a more continuous basis, then the TOEFL/ESL courses are a preferred route. This is just what I heard.

Note, I am NOT considering going. I just want to hear some stories FMOI.

I think it's one thing for a vacation but quite another to have culture shock when you're there for a long-term basis.

Thanks in advance for your comments and info! Also, feel free to pm me your thoughts, too.

Maybe you can post this in Talk Lounge instead? More people could see it.
