Not really, it is different in every administrative region in Moscow. It won't be shut down for the whole month either, about 2-3 weeks. They need to replace some of the hot water mains and as you may have guessed, they cannot do this with any pressure or water in the pipe Wink
I'm lucky though, this apartment was built in 1933 and has no hot water up to it at all Laughing We have a gas water heater so we have hot water all year round Very Happy

Yes, Vic is right: it depends on the area. Some areas have the hot water switched off already until the 1st June, some will have the same thing in August. I believe that starting from the last year, most of the central areas around Tverskaya have hot water all year round. In any case, stationary water heaters are readily available, and if the hot water is off, you can just buy and install one, I think it costs about $100 with installation. Will be enough to take a shower.

ye, its gotta be tough without hot water. we had that problem is sochi. we were doing a camp there we had hot water only 20 minuts a day.

a little off subject: in sochi, the cook refused to put the drinking water in the fridge before serving it, claiming that its unhealthy for the kids...whats up with that??

Anyone know if the showers for single-room blocks in the Moscow State main building have these heaters installed? I will be likely be coming home for July, but it can't hurt to ask.

No, there there are no heaters.
There also disconnect water, as well as in area where there is a University. Graphic of switching-off of water can be found out in management of the dorm. Maybe it will be not in July. Can be in June or August

Still is one. You obviosly do not comprehend the fact that if you DO NOT turn off hot water for a few days in the SUMMER you might just have the hot water main BURST in the WINTER and have no hot water for a month IN THE WINTER. Comprende?? It is moments like this americans crack me up.

Yes, there is no guarantee that now in 2 hours can disconnect hot or cold water for the whole month. It concerns especially cities, except for Moscow and Saint Petersburg.

wwwadim,
Perhaps you should enter the contest about who will get 1st date with Polska then! Looks alone make you stand out! It is sexist of me to say this but you are a Russian knock out. And you seem very nice and smart too! So come on why not join in the fun. Polska is a knock out too! But you must tell what you would plan for 1st date!
