i have another question. any help would be appreciated.
i'm in the process of filling in the application for a tourist visa, the USA version. there are a million questions that require long answeres, but the form only gives you enough space for one or two words. for example, the first question asks for present citizenship (easy enough) and whether or not you've ever had russia citizenship and when/how you lost it. it gives you one line's worth of boxes for this. i need to say that i used to have russian citizenship but had to give it up when i emigrated. what do i do? where do i write all of this?
it's all like that. in the education section, i can't even fit in the name of my uni, much less and address and phone #. there's not enough space to list all of the countries i've been to in the last 10 years.
has anyone had any experience with the USA form? what is the embassy expecting? (i'm applying at the London consulate, btw).
thanks again.

I too, am in the process of visa application for a family member. Fortunately I have organizational help. The USA to Russia visa application is a huge headache.
Here's the word from those in the know: If you run out of little block spaces, keep writing. This information from the paper form is inputted into a computer format. The computer format, unlike the paper copy, has unlimited little block spaces. Therefore, if you run into the margins of the paper copy the person who inputs data into the computer will have no problem fitting your information in to the form in the computer version.
So run into the margins (legibly), and keep going. Too much information on the visa form, I have been assured, is not a problem.
And always keep your fingers crossed. PM me if you need help. |

You should not do any of this - you are wasting your time.
Use one of the online visa services to do this whole thing in just a few minutes.
I used www.russia-visa.com to get my visa to russia. You fill the application online (it's much shorter than the paper application), then you send in by UPS/FedEx your passport and 1 photo and get your visa in a few days (the more you pay, the quicker you get it). |

| clearly you're right, mrspice--it's a lot of extra hassle to do it yourself--but you have to understand that many of the people on this board are young, and that the extra $50 or so is a lot of money for them. as a student, i can live on that for a couple of weeks if i need to... |

If you don't mind me asking, what processing did you pay for (14 days, 3-5 days?) and how quickly did you get it? Also, which consulate did you go through? Is the rumour I hear about sometimes having to go in for an interview true?
Thanks! |
