First of all USSR was an horrible dictature, of course some people will say it is not true, that life under the soviet union was like paradise, but not for everybody. What about all those people who were jailed for many years in Goulag with awful conditions only because they dared to say what they were thinking ? In every dictature you can find some happy people, you just have "to follow the line". Under the spanish dictature if you were catholic and went to the church every sunday and were anti communist: no problem. In the opposite case (like my uncle) you were jailed. Under the third reich, if you were blond with blue eyes and anti communist : no problem but if you even think to get marry with a "non aryen" you were jailed, I don't talk about being jew... Some people here says that under USSR a very good space program has been developped, that the best plane fighters has been produced that's right, and what ? People who were jailed or killed for insignificant reasons didn't care about the Great soviet space program like most of people who have a real hard life.

Perhaps, my post will be moved? Anyway, I want to know why no one blames the U.S.S.R. and "Russian" (whatever, it doesn't matter how you define it... define it as totalitarian or authoritarian communism if you like) communism for the pains of today? I mean, I DO blame greed and the negative aspects of capitalism for a great deal of Russia's (or any capitalist country's problems) but I don't see why people ignore the 'communist' system and the government in place in them. These had a major influence in the problems of economic reform and implementation of a more 'western' or capitalist system. Not only that, these "reforms" are never implemented sincerely or in a genuine determined manner. Russia's political reforms were a sham. The economic reforms were shady and unjust. Imho, you can't have 60+ years of that kind of system (the type of communism Russia had) and implement a capitalist system without major problems. I think China is a special case because in China, a lot of the workers are easily mobilized (as they have for a long time) and work at low wages. The "communist way" is still utilized but they've allowed certain capitalistic freedoms. The government benefits financially. What will happen to China when society there catches up to 'western' ideas. People in westernized countries don't really care for working for minimum wage let alone less than that. China will replace America as the next great superpower but imho, it is not because their 'communism' was better than Russia's.
