Hi,
recently Russian railways joined the Eurodomino ticket system. Has anybody made personal experiences if this kind of ticket is known and accepted in major cities in Siberia? I understood that you have to chose a specific day for using this ticket. Is this a Moscow day (00:00 thru 23:59) because the trains are running on Moscow time?
Thanx for your help,

I'm really interested in the same question too.
I've read on some italian newsgroup that it should be OK to use the eurodomino ticket on trans-siberian railway. there was not writte if you have to pay a reservation or a majoration , anyway if true it would be a cheap and simple way to cross Russia and stop at least in siberia for a couple of days, i'll search
bye

Hi,
we tried it. If you have plenty of time, eg 2 - 3 hours for discussing the issue with the railroad staff, you can try it.
Irkutsk - no problem
Krasnoiarsk - after 3 hours we got the ticket
Tomsk - very helpful staff, that tried all they could to find out how they could issue the ticket.
Omsk -
Tobolsk - "We are a small town. We cannot issue a ticket to Sverdlovsk. You came by bus from Tyumen? Why don't you take the bus to Tyumen and buy the ticket there? No, we cannot make a telephone call. We are a small town. No, we don't have internet. We are a small town..... Take the bus......."
Sverdlovsk: Finally we got it at the international counter
Kazan: We wanted a ticket to Vladimir. they sent us to the VIP room - President Vladimir Putin was in town - They wanted to send us via Moscow. Finnally we got a ticket to Gorki.
Anyway you have to pay extra charges, depending on the train you use.
The reduction is perhaps around 50% 2nd class.
If you use the train for longer distances the reduction is probably higher. No reservation fee if you buy the ticket for the same day.
rzd (Russian Railways) website has a list of the international booking offices in Russia. Maybe you should only use your Eurodomino ticket at these counters. There you find infos on Eurodomino too. Take a print to proof to the RR staff that Eurodomino is valid in Russia.
Station hotels are well run, but they don't make visa registration; they will give you just a stamp. When we left from SVO we had very many stamps. So they didn't care about.
Best wishes

NB
If you can read german try the website interrailers.net. They have a Forum discussing travelling Russia by rail the cheap way.
Good luck,

| It seems to be that Eurodomino can use in Trans-Siberian railways, but there is no information about if we can use the Eurodomino card for taking a famous Russia (002M), whole way through from Moscow to Vladivostok. Does anyone know in detail? Can we take that train with Eurodomino card with additional charge or not? If we can take the train with additional charge, how much do we need to pay, assuming that we have a Eurodomono card which is valid for 7 days. Can we make a reservation in Moscow? If yes, where? |

| To purchase a EuroDomino pass you must have been resident in Europe for at least 6 months and a passport number is required at time of booking. It is not permitted to purchase a pass for travel within your own country of residence. |

Thank you for your reply.
I live in Paris for more than 2 years so far, and I do have a "carte de sejours" (residential parmit) in France. My plan is going back home to Japan, using Transsib. Going from Paris to Moscow using trains is fairly easy, and we can purchase a ticket to Moscow at the ticket counter of SNCF (about 300 Euro in second class).
Problem is saving money from Moscow to Vladivostok... Going from Vladivostok to Fushiki, Japan, is also not a big problem using this informative waytorussia site, but information on Eurodomino of Russia is very limited.... |

Attention!
Since March, 30th 2007 tickets of system of an EuroDomino (InterRail) are not accepted any more for fulfilment of trips across Russia. From this date internal Russian tickets of a railway communication operate only.
We, Ru-Sextravel Agency, can book rail tickets for your trip across Russia.

I am curious to all your post of help. If you help book a person some rail tickets, does it come with a bonus package on the trip? Will there be any surprises when a person settles in their berth? Will someone pop out from the closet to give the person a night to remember?
Just curious! |

Thanks for your reply
If you paying for Premium Trip - you getting rail tickets (four-seater compartment, from Moscow to Omsk and back) as a bonus, absolutely free. But you'll need pay for delivering of tickets by express-post. I'm sure you know it's tariffs.
But if you'll buy Standard or Free Trips - the tickets (from Moscow to Omsk and back) will cost for you $500 (four-seater compartment), $980 (double compartment) in begin of July (or higher in August and lower in September) + any express-post delivery to you.
No any surprises. We care about our reputation.
Any questions? |
