Is there a prohibition on taking into Russia two walkie talkies and their use in Russia. My wife and I will be independently traveling into Russia from Helsinki on the Sibelius train and then on an escorted cruise/tour with UniWorld Cruises visiting St. Petersburg and then a number of villages on the Neva & Volga rivers and then Moscow. What difficulties might we encounter at the border with customs both on arrival and the Moscow airport upon departure and while we are walking and touring within Russia ? Anyone used them and what did you encounter ?

You should have no difficulties whatsoever with walkie talkies. They are sold here and you are permitted to use them - so it will not be a problem for you.
