I once came up with an idea but it's kinda ugly - shades of Nazism, no Stalinism - no

Actually, "Stalinism - yes". In 1944 Stalin accused Chechens with collaboration with Nazis and repatriated most of republic's population to Central Asia (Kazakhstan, mainly). They were allowed to return in 1956. By the way, how do you figure to distinguish between peaceful Chechens and warmongering ones? do you think Basaev's guerillas are going to take a step forward so that you could send the rest into some promised land?

There are roughly couple hundreds of thousands of ethnic Chechens living in Moscow metro area: even though majority of them were there way before 1994 and have plenty of community ties by now, can't say they enjoy much trust or sympathy from Russians at the moment. Can't say it's fair or just...can't say it's completely unjustified either (their criminal gangs made quite a reputation for themselves since the 80's).

...It is really amusing to even reply to your suggestion, though Smile

Not to condone terrorists or terrorism in any way, but they are fundamentally right. It's high time Chechnya got its independence.

people, believing that the Chechen freedomfighters are Al Qaeda, or anything related to that is pathetic, that is just like believeing that Al-Zarqawi exists...
I mean you don't need to be an army general to see the obvious...

Chchens just want a free chechenia, they are not islamists, they don't want a Sharia Law, they dont want a taliban style country, they want to be free.

U.S.A. is the master of Sesame Street. The U.S.A. controls criminals, prisoners, sex-offenders, murderers, liars, etc. The U.S.A. is like the main GIANT PINOCCHIO who lures young boys at least 5 years old to join SESAME STREET to sexually abuse small and innocent children.

U.S.A, right now, under the leadership of state police crooks, criminals, kidnappers, sex offenders, rapers, killers, murderers, bloggers, reporters, and state-terrorists is the number one criminal and monsterous country of the whole world.

U.S.A. is the only country in the world who supports and defends criminals rather than the victims rights and privacy.

U.S.A. criminals and crooks (both white & blue-collar jobs) inherited the fore-fathers' American Revolutionary ideologies. Most of these American Rebels and Separatists wanted to break away from Britain's Empire.

Thus, the U.S. Declaration of Independence by the 13 British colonies was declared on July 04, 1776 by criminals and crooks of today's descendants of Anglo-American Pilgrims / Separatists / Rebels of the British Empire.

The state police and state U.S. justice, including the criminals and state terrorism, is using this tactics to scare people and support criminal crooks illegal activities to proliferate worldwide. The laws of U.S.A. is being under mined and attacked by its own U.S. criminal Rebels & U.S. Separatists... Twisted Evil

This is some hilarious stuff, Jbourne! Laughing

And Renwan, you can't be serious. Basayev IS a Wahabist, thanks to ibn ul-Khattab, they DO torture and murder innocents. So why are they "freedom fighters?" For bombing metro stops and apartment buildings in Moscow, killing nothing but civilians? Sounds like a pretty righteous cause to me! Rolling Eyes Now they're even killing soldiers and civilians in Dagestan (more so than before, it seems) so this idea of their just wanting an independent Chechnya seems pretty well debunked, don't you think?

Russia has entered in the 90s a decolonisation process just like western european countries did a few decades before. This process is rarely peacefull, since it requieres movement of populations who have to quit jobs, home and often their identity. The colonial power also looses its influence and access to the countries wealth. This explains decolonisation wars.

Once again, what s the coherence with russians regarding chechens as sub citizens and at the same time regarding Chenya as an unnegociable part of Russia. The logic can only be economic...
