When a Russian visa is issued, how is it physically affixed to the passport? Is it glued on or is it merely stapled, as i have need to remove any trace of my visit after leaving the country.

Are you a spy?

Seriously, there are two types: the old one, which is just a piece of paper (given in some Russian consulates in the US), and a new one, which is glued in the passport -- no chance of removing it after.... I recommend you to contact the Russian consulate you apply to, explain your problem, and ask them what kind of visas they issue.... Laughing
