I will be in Moscow & St. Petersburg (5 days in each city) and was wondering how difficult it would be to get food (such as bread, meat for sandwiches, etc.) as a foreigner who does not speak Russian?

Is it easy enough to justify renting an apartment with a kitchen (prepare light breakfast & lunch) instead of a hotel room?

I don't know about Moscow, but in St.Pete finding and buying food is easy for foreigners. They now have many very nice grocery stores with push carts. Most all the prices are clearly marked, but you must remember that all weights there are measured on the metric system. Things such as bread, lunch meat, cheese, etc. there are very tasty, and available in all the grocery stores, but beware of buying these foods from street vendors as our pampered western stomachs can't handle some of the bacteria found at a lot of the kiosk, and local markets................Randy
