Ring goes on right hand in russia.

She will not get a tourist VISA with the $400.00, it is almost impossible for young single russian women to get a tourist visa. This is a classic scam that has been posted numerous times on scam sites.

Going to Russia for the first time can be difficult, but it is an eye opening experience. If your lady will meet you at the airport, then it is much easier. I am going back for my 5th time on December 31st, newyears in red square, with my fiancee. I am putting her engagement ring on her finger for the first time, yes, on the right hand, she will wear it on her left hand in America. Anyway, if your girl will meet you, then you really should go there. If a woman is not a property owner, married with children, or does not have a high paying job, then you can probably forget a tourist visa to america.

Tazz, tell that girl that you will buy the ticket yourself and that she should apply for the tourist visa on her own, and that you will send the VISA fee when the interview is scheduled. You can verify that at the US embassy via email or phone. Also, an invitation letter is not required at the embassy, you can bring one, but it does not have any affect on the CO's decision to issue a visa.

Hello everyone. This is a great subject. I too have met someone from Russia and when we first met she was wearing a ring on her left hand. The ring was a band with a diamond in the center, much like the US female engagement ring. I came right out and asked her and she said the same thing as Ksenia said.
I am going to meet her for the first time in spring 2006, and I would agree that sending money to Russia is not a good idea. My Russian lady is young, but she has a job. She would never, in a million years, let me send her money...or to a travel agency for that matter. She would be insulted. So I would have to say this to the gentleman that mentioned sending money to Russia. "Be careful...make sure it is true love".
To Ksenia...We have not decided how or where we will meet, yet. I have not decided whether I want to go to Russia to meet my lady or have her come here. I actually toyed with meeting her somewhere like Hawaii. We would both pay our own way no matter what we decide. Can you give me some advice? I am a bit gun shy about going to Russia. How hard is it for an American to go to Russia? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Raven777, don't be shy about going there. After corresponding for months with a girl in 1999/2000 I went, from Scotland, to St Petersburg in April 2000 to meet her for the first time. I loved it, and though I suppose I stood out a little, just from the fact that I was not wearing a big black leather jacket, I found the Russian people to be very warm and welcoming. There was a small supermarket that I went to to buy things each day and after the first day, the girls in there were really friendly to me, and my girlfriend.

We got married a few months later in Scotland, and now have two young children who are bilingual and our oldest lad is forever asking when we are going back to see his Baboushka and Deadushka. It was definitely the best thing I ever did. Good luck!
And yes, Russians wear their wedding rings on the right hand.

When I got engaged to my Russian fiance and gave her an engagement ring, I put it on her right hand as per her customs and culture.
When she relocated here as a wife Very Happy to honor our customs she changed it to her left hand during the wedding ceremony.
In the main though...we're married ! Very Happy
