|
|
I'll be in Russia for 9 days in September. I would like to purchase a SIM card that I can used with my unlocked GSM phone. I would mainly be calling friends in Moscow while I am in Moscow and calling friends in Moscow while I am visiting other cities. I would also be making a few calls to the US to catch up on business while I am away.
When I google for SIM cards to be used in Russia, there are so many results!
I'd love to get advice from someone about where to buy a SIM card that I can use in Russia.
Thanks in advance,
Kat |

There are 3 GSM operators in Moscow: MTS, BeeLine and MegaFon. For a 9-days voyage in Russia, espesially if you are planning to visit other cities, I would recommend you to buy a MTS "Jeans" SIM-card or MegaFon "O'Lite" SIM-card. MegaFon is widely developped in regions of Russia, MTS gives you better quality network in Moscow. Probably, "O'lite" card is better because it will cost you $0,23 per minute to call to the US. MTS call will cost you more than $1 You may buy such a card in any of the "Cell offices" in Moscow - in airport, in the downtown, in supermarkets.
Feel free to ask futher questions. |

The best - and obvious! - answer to your question is to simply buy one in Moscow, or, easier still, to arrange for the Way to Russia people to buy one for you and deliver it to you upon arrival (I've done that with no problems - it sure is the easiest way).
For low volume calling, this product is very helpful everywhere in the world - http://www.hopmobile.com/ - I've used it in Russia successfully.
