Hello:

My Russian visa only gives me six days to see St. Petersburg and Moscow. I'm flying in and out of Moscow. Has anybody tried flying from SP to M, or vice versa? What are your thoughts on costs, time? I have an idea to take the train to SP, then fly back to M on the day of my departure flight, but I need to do this cheaply.

Any advice would be appreciated...

Melissa

It costs about $65 US (adults) to fly one way Moscow - St. Petersburg, the flight takes about 1 h 20 m and give another 2 hours to get to Sheremetyevo (Aeroflot) or Domodedovo (Pulkovo airlines) aeroports in Moscow, and 1 hour to get from Pulkovo airport in St. Petersburg to the center. Another 1.5 hours for registration and luggage. So, in all -- 6 hours.
Another option is one of the many daily trains between Moscow and St. Petersburg - costs about $20 - $30 one way (2nd class), takes 8 hours, most of them are overnight, departing around 23.00 Moscow, arriving 6.00 or 7.00 next morning to St. Petersburg. The both railway stations in Moscow and St. Petersburg are located centrally.
