| Paul: I was at Dallas-Fort Worth airport once a few years ago. I cannot comment on hand-washing - I definitely washed mine :) But the airport itself is impressive - it's hige, full of restaurants and shops. It's like a small city in itself. It's probably the best and biggest airport I have ever seen. I don't think it should be on the same page with Moscow airports. It's like night and day. |

| I don’t usually wash my hands in the restrooms of airports or public places. I go to this store call Body Works and I get these anti bacterial hand wipes. I don’t usually like the smell of the soaps and when I visited Japan they are big on the hand wipes so I got use to using them. Buy the hand wipes, they smell good and they are very handy. |

| Quote: | | I was flying through Frankfurt International not too long ago. I know it's known as the finest, biggest german airport. I wasn't impressed at all. First of, everybody seemed to smoke everywhere. Stuff is overpriced. Customer service is everage. |
While I am willing to agree with some of the things you attrtibute to Frankfurt and am even willing to add some things....such as a more jerkier than usual Polizei and customs agents, Frankfurt, especially compared to that dump Heathrow and De Gaulle is one of the finest airports in Europe. Haven't been to Madrid in 10 years so I dont know or remember how it is anymore.
And Paul Holmes antiamerican? Holmes was probably the first and only pro-American Canadian i've ever encountered. Whats an antiamerican to you? |

| Talula - you should probably start washing your hands in restrooms. It's a good thing to do. |

I looked at that post. I dont see anywhere where specifically said that America or Americans are bad and horrible. Just that some airports in the US are bad, and I agree with him after experiencing JFK and Newark.
And disrepecting the president and his policies irregardless of whether or not you voted for him is a right guaranteed by our constitution/bill of rights, the best thing about being an American and living here, and why this country and democracies the world over works so well if i'm not mistaken. What you say reeks of the authoritarianism that we claim to be overthrowing in other countries. |

Some airports in the US ARE bad! Have you ever been to St. Louis? BLECH! The restrooms probably rivalled what I've heard about Russian public restrooms, it was horrible. And I've noticed that most men don't wash their hands after using the restroom. I'd say MAYBE one in ten that pass through the bathroom in my pub wash their hands after doing their business, at least from what I see. It's quite disgusting and I try to remember who I saw not wash their hands so that I know not to shake their hand. Yeah, I'm a stickler for hygiene.
And I haven't spend hours in Frankfurt, but I had no problems with customs, walked right through, everything was fine. And who cares if everyone smokes? At least there's a few places left on Earth with real freedom where we smokers aren't treated like leprous freaks or herded into tiny cubicles so people can point and snicker as they walk by. Besides, everyone knows smoking is cool. |

I was coming off of a plane from Africa, and nto Frankfurt and they were particulary rude and anal. But maybe that was due to that circumstance and not their service as a whole so you are right that way.
St. Louis's bathrooms were bad, Newarks and Chicago Midway's were worse. I've seen cleaner port-a-potties.
And casey's right. One can just stand there in any men's bathroom anywhere and count how many actually wash their hands. I bet it'll be less than 10 out of 50.
As an ex-smoker I agree with you wholehartedly. The persecution of smokers everywhere has got to stop. Here in SF, they just passed an ordinace banning smoking in outdoor public spaces including parks and squares? No Joke. |
