Whether North Korea is really a human rights abuser, time will reveal more and more, and it will end up looking like it's bigger communist brother, China. According to rewan, communism in N Korea seem to provide plenty of ups for the ordinary folk, and they have gone a bit more touristy, more open etc. oh remember that NK opened up the border--another barrier brought down... however somehow people are starving time to time and sometimes even aid is denied....sounds familiar?

Anyway that aside, glad to hear about the cultural side of North Korea that is still alive and appreciated. That is what travel is about--enjoyment!

North Korea is one of the worst countries on this planet. Not only it's not free in any way, but its people live in extreme poverty, they don't have freedom to express themselves, they don't have freedom to elect their leaders and there is no freedom to create and own any business -- everything is done by the state. There was a country like this called The Soviet Union, and I lived there and it sucked.

Well, the United States is not just "not free" and a "police state", but it is sliding farther and farther away from the path of "democracy". So how about you work on making your own country a democracy before starting to teach others?
