This week's Blast from the Past topic:
| Quote: | A friend of mine, formerly a resident of SP, told me that there is a two- or three-day period during the summer when it is DARK for the enitre day. It has something to do with the death of a child, and is called "The Secret of St. Petersburg".
Does anyone out there have any more information on this subject? Thanks |

I am sure some of us must have witnessed this great event themselves. To see the streetlights go out, the sun fade. And all of this during the St. Petersburg summer with it's famous white nights..
One of the jewels of this forum.. Why did no one ever answer this question?

...good question... why no one ever told us about it? (Besides this post, I mean.) The only reason for this event I can think of is a solar eclipse, but even those do not happen very often! |

This is probably a very confused person. Someone said that in St Petersburg there is a 3 day period when it never gets dark all day long.
This poor soul didn't understand that this means it is LIGHT 24 hours per day during the white nights. |

Sounds like it, but what about the "death of a child" she mentioned? Where did that come from??
Come to think abou it, having the sky go dark for 3 days in a row during the white nights season it would be scary |

| Maybe it has something to do with the book, Secret of Saint-Petersburg. If you speak Russian, then read it and see. |
