So, just do what the rest of us do when we visit Russia. Rent an apartment, eat at home, travel around by foot or on the buses. Avoid the nightclubs and bars, socialize outside the apartment entrance or in a park near a kiosk that sell beer. Live like Russians do.

It's much more fun that trying to reconstruct an American tourist lifestyle in a place where this type of lifestyle is extremely foreign.

Let me introduce myself.
I am Helena. i live in Vladivostok! It is good idea of you to visit Vladivostok and meet New Year here! Cool!

I don't think you will find a homestay with a charge 10$ per night!
Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky has low-level of life.
Here in Vladivostok prices are not so cheap! And December-January is a hot time for tourists here!

I can offer an appartment (30$ per night) during time period you need.

You may contact me if you agree!

P.S. My friends and I will go to Arseniev city (where the ski resort is situated) to meet New Year! Another good idea for you!

spartacus: register at www.hospitalityclub.org, there are 12 members of the club from Vladivostok. Send requests to the most active members. Two weeks is too long to stay at one place so ask about staying with them for a few days.
