| I am an african-american female and I am going to Russia for the first time next year. I was really looking forward to my trip to Russia but I have head a lot of stories about racism in Russia and I am really rethinking my decision to go. If anyone can help me to ease my fears please help me!!! : |

| I think that you will be viwed as an American and you are not likely to encounter any racism there. There's widespread hate of people from the southern republics and Chechnia. There are virtually no black people in Russian and some passers-by will probably stare at you with interest. To be 100% safe, stay close to the center of the city. Assuming you are visiting large cities like St Petersburg and Moscow, you should be fine and safe. Once you go there, let uis know how it went. |
