I just got back my passport back from the Russian Embassy.

I originally wanted a DOUBLE ENTRY tourist visa because I'll be in Moscow from Nov 17 - Dec 2, 2005 AND around Dec 21 - 24, 2005.

The thing is though, I added a "couple of days" on my hotel reservation after Dec 24th cause I dunno whether or not I'll extend.

Looking at the dates on my visa sticker, it says

From: 17.11.05
Until: 29.12.05

which is >30 days

It is my understanding that a TOURIST VISA can only be issued with a validity of 30 days. Is this true?? Obviously my double entry tourist visa is valid for LONGER than 30 days....

The last thing I want is to get detained or deported.

Any advice would be appreciated.

What you see is what you get. It is valid for the dates entered. You got lucky.

According to the Russian Consulate in NYC (BTW, I got my visa from Russian Embassy Manila), tourist visas are only valid for 30 days.

IMPORTANT: Russian tourist visa can be issued for not longer than 30 days! When entering Russia with a tourist visa, you are required also to present at the border checkpoint your tourist confirmation, voucher and a return ticket with a fixed date of departure from Russia. You also will have to prove that you have sufficient funds for your travel.

OOOO I'm SOOO SCARED NOW Sad

Stop worrying, there is no need to. You don't understand Russia....

The only people who will be looking at your visa are the bored dweebs at passport control, and possibly, if you get randomly document checked on the street (unlikely), the militsia. They care about only one thing: that at the time they check your visa it is valid. Period. If somebody else somewhere else made some kind of faux paux, it's not their problem. They don't stand around with a library of Russian law and legalities in a bookshelf behind them. They don't care.

They just want to see that your visa and passport and migration are dated and stamped and current. That's it. Relax, believe me, honest, you don't have a problem.

Wasn't bryanboy being 'sarcastic'? I didn't take his 'scared' reply seriously.
