Migration card is a nice little piece of paper (see above) and one needs to fill it at the boarder. Then one hands out his/her migration card to customs officials and they stamp the M card and then hand it back to you. Migration card is not to be lost, because the registration remarks are done on the migration card. When registration is complete, one gets his/her M card back. When one leaves Russia the customs officials might again show some interest to M card as they're curious to know that registration is done properly. |

Just got back from St Petersburg myself. New cards have Russian AND English on them. Finnair flight had them available on the flight...and more were in the airport. I took one and will find it and scan it in for everyone to see.
Oh...and LOVED my time there!!! |

Forget about learning Russian in terms of being able to fill out the Visa Form... I've studied Russian for the past 6 years, I'm probably at least an average student of the language.
But the language I never seem to get is the language of the 'bureaucrat'...
I never quite understood what the difference between a private visit, a tourist visit, even a study visit, is supposed to be... if I'm on a private visit, I better not get caught inside a museum, if I'm on a tourist visit, I better not get caught learning something?
I suppose its just me, but I don't know what type of visit I'm on...last time I went we spent a few days looking at sites and a few days visiting relatives...and I killed a guy.
It's confusing, and never mind homicide isn't even a choice to check....don't know how they are going to track anything important with their lame choices.
I cannot stand bureacracy...if there was a country without it, wow, that would be one attractive country. |

I know that DELTA also carries them for each country they fly into.. You get them a few hours before you land. |
