I didnt know people actually used their real names when scamming people. I thought for sure this scamming scheme was done by a group of people and not just random russians leading normal lives. I guess I always assumed it was a russian mafia sort of scam! Confused

It is. It's a bunch of guys sitting, laughing their heads off as they type the letters to those naiive boyfriends. It's one of the most profitable businesses these days. Thousands are being scammed on a weekly basis. You do not hear about it, because a lot of them are ashamed to share it with anyone. (Do the math. A person loses $700-$2000 by sending it to "a girl").
And knowing the popularity and magnitude of this site, I firmly believe that some of the scammers stop by here on a regular basis to post "inspiring" messages of "pursuing your dreams". Fire_G. next time you see a guy saying on here: "My russian girlfriend and I met on the internet and we are going to get married soon" - or something to that extent, you know where it's coming from (in 99.8% of the cases).

The chances of this girl even getting a visa is very slim

Kenkenif---- I am English and have lived in Russia for a Number of years and have stopped a few people being scammed----

My advice ----- ove the course of your next few e-mails ---suggest that it would be easier for you to come to Russia than for her to go to England ( which it would )---- if shes a scammer she will not want this to happen--- -other tell tale signs are they fall in love after only a few mails---- study her letters as profesional scammers havnt time to write personalized letters all the time---- sometimes they never answer direct quiestions---- and try to the same letter to a few blokes -- just change the names---- but as 1 of the above posts suggests put in russian scammers in google search---- this will give you an understanding of how big a problem is
