Use Yandex.ru as your search engine and write in Russian. I am assuming that you know Russian.

You sound like that green dude that lives in a garbage can.
Don't get your knickers in a twist just because someone came looking for a little information, and didn't do things the way YOU think they should be done.

No need to get mad because Saint asked something you're not familiar with. All you had to say is "I don't know". It's a lot easier than wasting your time typing all of that rubbish. It's okay if you're clueless, no one will make fun of you for it. Well, with the exception of me.

Also since it is the holidays and all, why cant you just take a vacation from your burning desire to write this book?

Why don't you take a vacation from your burning desire to stick a barbie doll where it doesn't belong?

Ho ho. Couldn't resist.
Bunch of cranky old folks. Go take a valium, the lot of you. Then write a book about your travels to owntsburg.

Have a nice day Smile

Real writers who want to know about the subjects in which they write, go to the locations where such things took place. So no I wont be sticking a barbie in my private area Laughing Infact I dont know where you even got the idea to do such a thing? Im sorry you must have a tough home life LOL Laughing

Actually, that's untrue.

1.) There's no specific place to go in this case. I wanted to know about the Russian military in general, not a specific battlesite. A real writer would track down memoirs, which is exactly what I did.

2.) Believe you me, if I had the money to go to Russia, I damn well would. But, as you're incorrect-- most "real" writers, even published ones, don't have the time or money to travel all over a foreign country for that sort of information, unless they already have a lot of money.

Don't get 'real writer' and 'rich writer' mixed up.

You are not a REAL writer!!! The only way you could be is if you wrote a work of fiction, or wrote about your own life! You are wanting to find out about the war time, which means if you desire to write a good book youll leave no stone unturned. But I see you dont want to be published! Have fun!

I am a writer too, and I never ask for someone to do my research, especially if it's such a broad and widely-documented topic like Russian military history, and the other replies here echo my sentiment. I know what I am talking about. And no, I am not inclined to be nice.

Well, if this is the way you do it, that's great. I guess the person who asked the question has a different way of doing things, but it's good that you let him know what you think about it. It's very important to let people know what we think about different things. How else can we leave a trace in this world? For example, lots of people are still not aware of the current situation in the world. But it's very important. There are a lot of ignorant people who have a wrong way of doing things. And our duty is to let them know what we think about it, otherwise we will never evolve.

Please, tell me I didn't travel all the way to Russia and did everything I could to settle down for nothing! I am not rich Sad But when you fall in love with Russia, it will never let you leave... watch yourself there Wink

It really would be worthwhile to visit Russia for your research, see the places where things took place, visit the relevant museums etc. But I'm not sure how serious your piece of writing will be... if it was a book then it is really a must.

I never said anything about a private area. That's a connotation that you conjured up. You say *I* must have a tough home life? Why on earth would you want to do that with a barbie doll? I don't know where *you* grew up, but where I come from that is just nasty. Rolling Eyes

Anyhow, just because you say someone isn't a real writer, doesn't make it so. That is mere opinion, and nothing more. Mark these words. Write them down if you like. Your opinion only constitutes a limited piece of existence. Some people are negative and demeaning. They just love to bring people down with them to share their view on reality. That's fine. Diversity is great. But that's only a hinderance to yourself. Those who can fly, will. And nothing you can do will stop that.

So when you exude such an obviously negative outlook towards people, it only shows the limitations you've put on yourself, and wish others to have so that everyone can be equal in your eyes.

"You are not a real writer"?
Sorry fire goddess, but just because something is not done your way, does not mean your opinion here stands as fact.

It's not a book, it's a letter-esque poem. I'm working far too hard on my current novel to begin another. I feel that the subject is better put into poem form, probably free-verse.

That's indeed true, and that is why when I get enough money, I will be doing that almost immediately first; I'm going back and will probably live there for a while with my fiance. But as of now, I have little to no money at all to even go toward a flight, let alone a lengthy stay there, so it's in the distant future.

Even though I will probably push to have this published with my other work, I don't think it is a big enough project to require going back to Russia for research. As said, I really only need memoirs for references on accuracy, so that it makes sense to those who read it.

Mediashark, do your comments on Google imply that for some people the rest of the internet is now obsolete as a resource? Razz
