|
|
My Russian Fiance has a Moscow K-1 interview in February and we expect her to fly to the USA March 1st. She has some things in Russia but may be too much for her to carry as luggage. I ask your advice out there if you have done this before with these questions:
1. Must I use DHL to ship boxes of her stuff to the USA?
2. Must I expect her to be in the USA quickly right after she receives her approval?
3. What is her expectation about living in the USA, money, gifts, clothing, working, etc.?
4. We are both nervous about living together for the first time. Any tips?
Thanks much. |

You should not be marrying a woman you dont know! The #3 question is ridiculous to ask other people!! Obviously in a marriage a person is expected to take care of their spouse. Yes that means sharing money, buying her gifts every now and then out of the kindness of your heart, and clothing the poor woman, is she gonna run around nude? Why do you even want to marry this woman? Surely its not for love, otherwise number 3 would have already been discussed between you and your fiance! |

| Do exactly as she lives on your neighborhood. Actually, belive, there is no difference between a russian, swedish or american girlfriend. All they need is love...Be happy. |

1. I heard on different occasions that DHL is not as reliable as, let's say, UPS.
2. What are you trying to ask in the #2 question? I am not quite sure if I get it. If it was my fiancee whom I loved I would make her to come as soon as possible. Do you really care for her?
3. Look, she is a new person to the US, it will take a long time for her to get adjusted to everything particularly if it is her first time in the US. You will have to work your butt off to provide for her and to make her feel comfortable in everything.
4. It's ok to be nervous. Look you have gone so far and you are about to start a new life with the woman you care about, just dive in without any reservations and enjoy it.
It's still not too late to stop it though. It will be less painful to stop it now than to allow her to come to the US and then to show her the case of cold feet. I saw it happen at least on one occasion. You will put her through a lot of pain if you are not prepared to take care of her. Your responsibilities will double. |

Number 2 is the only question I can address.
She will have 6 months to enter the country on her K-1 visa.
Upon arrival, she will have 90 days...during which you two must marry, or she must leave. |

YO, tigercatmeow!..Your life is about to change forever ole boy !...
As mentionsed by someone else, once she receives her K-1 Visa in her passport, you have 6 months to bring her to America with you.
Once here, you have 90 days to marry her or she'll have to return back to Russia.
We shipped most of my wife and twins things via UPS and some Fed Ex.
DHL is the pits when it comes to not getting your things or trying to find them once they've been shipped.
IMPORTANT!...you need to get your family and friends, especially your family, involved to help her through her adjustment once she arrives,
She'll wake-up one morning and realize she's not in her country with her family, friends, culture and language anymore.
Culture shock and homesickness can set-in...you have to be patient with her, give her ALL of your support, love and trust .
I know...I've been there and done that. My girls and I wish you the best .
