i will be traveling to st petersburg & moscow in june.
would be nice to spend two weeks in each city, but this all depends on the price of accomadation.
does anybody know the cost of a single room ( either b&b or budjet hotel) near or very near the city centre and names of such establishments.
also whats the chances of traveling to moscow by river at a realistic price e.g less than $1000 , alot less.

benno.

You can see a list of cheaper accommodation options in St. Petersburg at http://waytorussia.net/SaintPetersburg/Accommodation.html

Also, we have just put recently online a great new internet resource for people, who want to save on accommodation in Russia - FlatMates.Ru http://flatmates.ru/eng/

You can post your profile there and wait until somebody sends you a message to propose to stay at their place in St. Petersburg.

For the finest "western" style hotels nearest to city centre, you will be paying top dollar. If you are staying in St. Petersburg I would highly recommend the international hostel. It is a close walk to the Moscovsky train station and Nevsky Prospekt, the staff is excellent - friendly and english speaking, rooms are clean, breakfast is included, and you will meet great people. Just make a reservation in advance to ensure you get a bed. Wink
