Hi,

I've heard from several sources that Russian ladies are more concerned about a man's inner qualities vs. good looks. I have a difficult time believing that, it just doesn't make any sense-I don't believe it. Am I correct in my assumption? Russian ladies want hansome men for love and marriage-this is just a baloney to confuse fat old American bachelors. Am I correct?

Russian women marry American men for security above anything else. Otherwise from what ive heard they would rather be with Russian men. Rolling Eyes

kazanbound: I think Russian women are just like all other women and don't just care about a man's looks. I am sure that if you're a nice person and don't look like Brett Pitt, you can still find someone nice and special.

And by the way, Fire_Goddess knows nothing about Russia, so her comments are worseless.

I've started eating lots of fast food, and have a plan to shave my head once I'm about 80 pounds over my appropriate height to weight ratio, just to test this hypothesis.
I'll report back once the results are in!
I might just have a drop dead gorgeous girl by my side.....Just a few hundred Big Macs in the future!

My observation is that women of all nationalities melt like Jello for 'bad' guys.
I've also known women who will dump a guy for the most trivial of reasons and then complain that they can't find a man...needless to say my sympathy for these women is limited. Rolling Eyes

Most Russian women would prefer to be with a "good" Russian man. If they can find one. Sometimes this is a big "if" ... maybe not so much in reality, but in the womans mind. From the women I have known (most college educated who speak English rather well), they seem to be a bit slow to become involved with man. Many of those that I have known are also divorced, so add that into the equation. And most have some aunt or cousin or friend that married a great guy who later decides to drink and sit at home. Or maybe they had some similar problem. The idea that this could happen to them also, or happen again ... makes many cautious.

But I say this ... and just as many marry young and start a family, so there is sort of a split there. They will end up married to their high school sweetheart. It happens still here in the US too.

Many rather ambitious Russian women might view a westerner not as a man, but as an opportunity. In some cases, they fall in love with some idea or ideal image they have of the western guy. Certainly money and security play into that ... just as they do here.

Just as a rich ugly guy can end up with a very attractive woman here in the US ... the same can happen in Russia. But in general I would say that Russians are more sensitive to weight than Americans ... if you are even slightly overweight, chances are Russians would see you as quite fat there pork-pie!

I say all this as a guy who has had a couple of Russian girlfriends in the past (here and abroad) and is now married to a Russian woman. It certainly isn't some automatic thing, and I feel if I wasn't so curious about Russia culture, language, history, food ... that it never would have worked.

So when I read about guys who openly are chasing after a Russian or Ukrainian girl ... and they don't speak the language, have never visited the country, and on and on ... I think they are kind of nuts actually. I mean, they have no idea what they heck they are talking about. And when some of Katja's girlfriends or cousins back home make a joke or comment about finding them an American man ... I am quick to advise them that it just isn't likely to work, or to stop making such comments. I don't think you can force something to happen, when it comes to relationships.

And in any case, if you are over-eager to chase after some pretty slender tall and lovely girl or woman ... you are just as likely to get scammed as to end up happy. Maybe more likely to get scammed. There are plenty of businesses that cater to guys like you ... they see you coming ten thousand kilometers away. I mean, the sex-tourist trade is like a whole industry, especially in Moscow which starts to seem less like a historic city and more like a tacky-sexy version of Las Vegas (I hate all the casinos and neon in Moscow these days).

Anyway ... that is my 2 cents. Well, from all that I wrote .. more like $1.50.
