Sochi, who has been here?
Is it nice, expensive, "touristy", a good place to live?
Any info about the city would be greatly appreiciated.
Thanks Very Happy

Definitely touristy... though locals are not as rich as Moscow or SPb. Beautiful weather though.

It's great. The only thing I'd be cautious about is the water along the beaches. It's fairly poluted. I used to go swimming there anyway. Climate - paradise on earth. Loved it every minute, better than US Florida.
Oh, city - busy with a lot of activity in the summer.

Yes, I've heard the population of the city literally triples in the summer due to tourists/vacationers, etc.

As for the weather -- that's no good! What kind of "Russian experience" can one have in tropical climates? Wink Give me blizzards and ice diving and some vodka to warm my bones!

Bryak, if you like skiing, only 1-2 hours away is one of the top ski Resorts in Russia, Krasnaya Polyana. They just built a tunnel throught the mountains to shorten the trip as well. Sochi is a great place, but I would think you should go now as they plan on bidding for the Olympics.
