As of this morning 70% of Americans disagree with Bush and this war.... |

| nobody likes war...so it's easy to disagree with it. Really we should ask ourselves what would we like the nation of Iraq to become and be like? And then see what people say...and I would be willing to bet that the answers would be different from what Iraq used to be like...and is currently |

I am not sure if this is a good place to start this discussion. It would probably be quite boring, and most of us can see these kinds of discussions on TV every day. I would like to say one thing: the US army is funded by our tax dollars to defend and protect our interests. There's a good case to be made that the War in Iraq was a disaster for all - Iraq, because the unpleasant but stable authocratic government of Saddam was replaced by extreme chaos, civil war and violence. It was terrible for the US, as at no time in recent history so many peope across the globe hated the US so much. And in the global economy that we are living in now, having so few friends abroad hurts our economic interest. It was bad for the families of almost 3000 soldiers that died, and many thousands more who were severly injured and came home sick and disabled. It was bad for hundreds of thousands of Iraqis who died in this conflict - and many more will die still. It was also pretty bad for all of us monetarily - the war has cost us over 300 billion dollars already, and will probably cost 200-300 billion more. That's a huge chunk of cash that we could have used much more wisely. This is war is a case study of a noble idea (democracy in the middle of the middle east) that have gone truly bad. GW Bush is a simplistic man and his simplistic plan did not work, as expected. It's just like Vietnam - we will have to leave and Iraq, it's only a question of when. As Kerry said once "How do you ask someone to be the last people to die in a war"... Good question. |

Spice-my point is this...it's not GW Bush's war...if we had a different person in office-we'd still have gone to war. As I said the US policy was regime change and we were bound to go to war in Iraq. It's sad but the honest to god truth is that human casualties don't really matter to governments. Or to terrorists.
All is so unfortunate...but look at what the Saudis just came out and said this week. No George Bush is not running things...someone else is. |

What I would like to know is "Why does so many people have to die to finally make a decision to stop?" Its' just like Vietnam all over again....Vietnam II...the senseless war...billions of tax payers money right out the window....
Surguys' right, governments don't care about the casualties..terrorist don't care...terrorist think they will go to heaven and be rich when they kill people....what a farce....
one of the TEN COMMANDMENTS: "Thou Shalt Not Kill"!!!!!!!

So many people have had to die because your president decided to flex his muscles. And the Poms and Aussies got involved because we both have lap dog prime ministers, pandering, to that idiot Bush at the present time. They're all trying to trade on the hysteria of 2001. But today 70% of Australians cannot see any sense in the whole fiasco, according to the polls, so it's roughly the same opinion as in your country. As time goes on all involved in are starting to bicker over the original reason for the invasion and altering the facts to suit their own goals. Hopefully it won't go the distance of Vietnam. Surely even the US can admit they fucked up on this one before it goeson for much longer. |

We are not completely leaving...it's about oil Nikir. Bosnia and Afghanistan are about oil. And I can tell you this it was Great Brittain who told Bush Sr to get in and push Sadaam out of Kuwait. We are now sending more troops in to Iraq...like 30% more. Man power in our armed forces are increasing by almost that much...and the military is able to do it-people are still joining. So to say that most people disagree with this war is not totally true. It's all very interesting and we'll see what unfolds...Iran is the real issue! |

Hummm.. I don't think I've ever met a Russian. The closest I've been to one is in the Rocky movie in my living room. )~ I love Dolph Lundgren ! Maybe it's just me being single as to why I think like this sometimes.. but he is very nice to look at. Melissa. |

Well, get out of that saburbia and visit New York City - we have about 500,000 russians here. They are pretty much everywhere. In Brooklyn especially, there are dozens of Russian stores and restaurants. |

| If you've never met a Russian, have you at least been exposed to Russian culture or anything Russian? How does someone decide they want Russians friends, and want to visit the country, after having so little exposure to it? |
