I heard Russia would not allow the German band Rammstein to perform in Russia at one time due to the type of crowds they thought the band would attract.

Somehow I had never associated Russia with skinheads. That really surprised me to read that one. In Canada, they weren't going to let 50 cent in because of his criminal record, but they ended up letting him in anyway. Go figure. I go to the states and sit in a little room for two hours and I have no record at all. Confused

It seems like these days the "cleaner" you are, the more suspicious they become.

I know nothing is wrong with Rammstein, I was pointing out the fact that Russian officials felt the need to stop a concert before it began because they thought it would attract skinheads (Rammstein has often been accused of being neo nazi), so it shows that officials were concerned about a possible situation occuring, which means they havent ignored possible anti semitism as an issue. ( im not saying Rammstein is anti semitic)

It seems that if you have money, or are famous you have a separate set of rules. Like 50 cent is a career criminal, gang member, been shot half a dozen times, yet he gets more breaks than me. I'm sure if he came to my border as a regular person, he would be quickly rejected. Double standards everywhere. Mad

The guy has a few good points. If you look at countries like Saudi arabia and The Emirates, they will allow people to come to their countries and work, and build society, but they will never allow those people to own property or to gain citizenship. Anyone who wants a business or a house has to have a native co-signer. I use to think this was ridiculous, but with the amount of people you have pouring into a country from all directions it can be a safeguard to the natives. In the U.S. here we have the problem of the illegals pouring in from Mexico and then not speaking english and turning American neighborhoods into Mexican barrios. The key should always be to integrate, if you move to someone elses country to live, you should respect them enough to learn the language and well basically "do as the romans do", if not then you should stay home.

I know. I have a lot of Sikh friends, and sometimes they speak Punjabi to each other while we are having a conversation, and I am offended by that because I don't really understand Punjabi, so I tell them if you are going to live in this country, the least you could do is learn my language. I find it very rude to speak another language in front of others when you know they don't understand it. IMHO

As a matter of fact, Russians do find it rude for someone to speak in a foreign language loudly. Of course they do understand Russian is not easy to learn, but talking loudly in a foreign language is probably the same as making it very obvious you are whispering in front of them.

This post once again how little you understand about foreign countries and how you measure everything by the US standard. You cannot even compare the experience of foreign workers that come to the Saudi Arabia and UAE with that of Mexican immigrants and how they are treated in the US. It's a totally different system. They don't allow those people to own anything because those 2 countries have no rights for anybody. In Saudi Arabia, women can't drive and can't really own anything - men have to accompany women on all trips - they also have no rights whatsoever there. They import workers because large portion of the population live off oil revenues and don't want to work. And those workers come from poor countries and have no rights whatsoever.

Mexican illigal immigration is a different problem. People poor over the border because there's a huge demand for cheap labor in agriculture, construction and other industries here. The unemployment ratre in the US is almost at a 20-year low - just 4.7%. So these people fill the need for low-skilled workers. The US companies and residents benefit from this. And you cannot expect people that make below minimum wage to completely integrate in a society where the average household income is 48,000/year. Just like people live in the mansions in Beverly Hills will enver socialize and mix with those living in small townhouses.

And contrary to the popular belief, those mexican immigrants intergrate quite well into the US society. All the statistics available points to the fact that their integration and assimilation rates (ability to speak English, etc.) is no worse than those of Italian or German immigrants that came to the US in the beginning of the 20th century.
