Russians are generally in better physical shape than Americans
Russian women are prettier than Americans
The Islamic world loves Russians and hate Americans |

Is that why Russian life expectancy is so much shorter?

These all seem either quite backwards or just absurd to me....
Better physical shape? Well, maybe there aren't as many grossly obese (morbidly obese they call it nowadays) people in Russia but what about alcoholism -- that can sure take a toll on a persons health. I imagine that the average Russian is about in the same physical shape as the average American (which is unfortunately pretty bad shape!)
The second comment is just silly. There are beautiful and ugly women in both countries and unless you would like to conduct some sort of formal scientific research on the matter (tho I don't know how you possibly could) then maybe I'll listen to a comment like that.
And third, I bet you most Chechens at least would disagree, as would most of the Islamic world who aren't extremists and who don't hate anybody because of their nationality, or people who just have hate in their hearts, regardless of their religion, which is what the problem is anyways. Point is, the Islamic world probably looks upon Russians and Americans in a relatively similar light.
I need a vacation from these boards, or at least the old Talk Lounge and Not Relevant folders -- they just spiralled down into inane arguments and childish, meanspirited namecalling. So if anyone cares (and you probably don't) bon voyage! |

Here here. However, I just realized how hypocritical I was in my last post, tearing old sammy's viewpoint apart and then complaining about how much I hate the arguing that's going on all the time. 
Vacation island it is!!!!! Maybe we'll find vitalsigns there working on his tan. |

 I was laughing hard when I read this. Too bad I didn't see it before. Russians are in HORRIBLE physical shape. I just got back from Russia and I can assure you that I have never seen in the last 10 years so many men and women smoking and drinking. Lots of russian men even as young as 25 look like they are hard core alcoholics with sickish-looking skin and blue circles under their eyes. Should I go on?
Just because americans eat well and some of them are large doesn't mean they are in poor health. The general air pollution in Russia is the highest in the world, how can russians be healthier? Explain yourself.

I am not sure about that either. Except, of course, my pic on my avatar, you can tell I look really pretty. A lot of russian women look like they got out of a circus or something. High heels, dyed in red, blue, yellow hair, lots of make up, really unattractive looking clothes - I am not sure if I find it attractive, do you? Really? I am not saying all russian women look bad, yet I am saying that the vast majority has this peculiar taste in fasion that doesn't work anywhere else in the world.

| sammytheman: You're not talking about reality. Have you ever been to Russia? People in the US take care of themselves much better than Russians. Medical care here in the US is infinitely better. People tend to eat healthier foods in the US. Russia is a developing and still relatively poor country - that's the essense of it. |

But why did the Soviet's say you have the best medical care in the world? Was that more propaganda or the truth? Soviet doctors did endure much harder training than their American counterparts…but I’m not sure if it made them better doctors.  |
