It is not wether feeling it or not. Most Polish are of German and Nordic descent. That's why you see Polish with blonde hair and blue eyes alot. The one's of Slavic descent are the Polish with brown hair and brown eyes. Laughing

These Slavs came from were modern day Russia, Ukraine, and possibly Belarus is. Wink

Most early Middle Ages historians would disagree with you on the origins of Slavs. Smile

We don't know precisely where we originated, for one.For two, even if you were right, the different Slavic tribes separated by what, the 2nd century so Poles, Russians, Ukranians, Serbs, Czechs, Croats are like 1,800+ years removed from each other.

Polish in the early days was written in Cyrillic and the people of southern and eastern Poland were Orthodox. The German, and Roman Catholics invaded Poland and western slavs making them Catholic. The poliane tribe of Poland founded Ukrainian capital of Kyyv.

Kiev was a capital of ancient Russia (Kievan Russia or Kievan Rus').. So it's quite strange when people say that Kiev was an Unkrainian capital concerning an ancient time... By VIII century there wasn't any Ukraine, even in XIX century ukrainian and belorussian were oficially dialects of russian

Towarzysz remembers wrong, Polanie were very much a Polish tribe. (Field= Pole. Pole-->Polanie --> Polska)

I asked a history professor I know about the orgins of the Slavs.He confirmed some of what...Daniel? said.

I admitt defeat. d'oh!

He also added that there was no such country as Ukraine for centuries and there isn't a Ukrainian ethnicity because the people living in that area were Cossacks and Polish and other migrants and that Ukrainians should if anything, consider themselves more Polish than Rusyn. Smile

western ukrainians are really very close to polish but eastern Ukraine - Donetsk, Odessa is very close to Russia... even In Kiev you will hardly hear ukrainian speech but in Lviv people will try to avoid russian language
So after the orange revolution Harkiv and Dontsk really wanted to join Russia as well as Crimea...

At school we were tought that Poland was an artificial creation from Napoleon out of a desapeared ancient kingdom to protect his empire from Russians....I guess this was a nation centric interpretation of reality Very Happy

But in our history books annexion of Poland was called 'a tragedy of polish nation which lost their independence'... However polish view of history of relations with Russia is very nationalistic: like russian occupants invaded our motherland but in 18 century Poland could not keep their independence anyway. Now Poland is a proamerican country which hate russians Smile

i was born in poland but don't hate it. We are all family. like brothers. Crying or Very sad

As also a fellow western Ukrainian, We don't like russians becuase russians because we were tossed to the carpathian mountains. Polish are rebelious, I remember my great-grandfather used to get in fights all the time. Laughing

Also, zaporozhian cossacks were polish I think to as well. I am not sure on that part though. Rolling Eyes

zaporozhian cossacs weren't polish and also they weren't ukrainians... they were a kind of mixture and formed something like a new nation Smile

do you know about the bulava?? it was first used in poland by POLISH hetmans. then the ukrainian cossacks took that idea and made their own bulava. Also the military costume of polandion the 17th century was taken by the russians and used as the uniform in their military same with ukraina. Laughing
