Hi everybody!
Could you help me?
It is the first time I come on this website. I see that for a tourist invitation, the fee is 30$. The question i was asking myself is: does this fee include the cost of the Visa or is it only for the invitation?
And then, I was also wondering about the leaving date. Ta apply for a tourist visa, do I need a plane ticket that shows when I am going to leave Russia or something prooving I will leave Russia? Because actually, we are going to travel as backpackers, and we will buy our transport tickets little by little.
Could anyone help me?
Thanks a lot

| When I applied for my Russian visa, all I needed was the application form, the invitation (which I obtained from waytorussia), my passport and the fee. I had made a provisional flight booking but I didn't need to show this. The cost of a visa depends on how quickly you need it and appears to vary between embassies. |

So actually, you just paid for the invitation and then for the visa? So 30$ + about 54$ is that true? Without having to proove where you were staying or without showing any plane ticket?
What about the other things to present? Pictures, passport...?
In which country did you apply for Russian Visa? I'm gonna do it in France, so I wanted to know if you experienced it in France or in another country.
Thanks |

The invitation is written in Russian but I believe it contains the name of a hotel, which you will not stay at. You have to state which cities you will be visiting, although I only wrote Moscow and then visited another city without any problems. You must attach a recent passport size photo on your visa application. You have to give your passport so they can stick your visa in it.
I applied for my visa in Geneva, although i was living in France at the time, and I am British. The reason I paid a small fortune to get my visa quickly was because I needed my passport to get back home to France later that day.
When you get your visa make sure you check it before leaving the embassy building. |

| Ok many thanks for your advices! I will go to the Ambassy about 2 months before leaving for Russia (in september). I will go to Moscow as well as I will take the transsiberian and stop in different cities before Beijing. Do you have addresses in Moscow for the night? Did you stay in a hotel or at friends' home? |

| I think I stayed in a radisson hotel on my first night in Moscow. I then left Moscow and spent a week in Nizhny Novogorod with a friend. The hotel will register your visa, the hotel I stayed in would only register me for the 1 night I stayed there. I didn't bother after that and had no problems leaving the country a week later. I think there is lots of useful information about travelling on the trans siberian railway elsewhere on this site which you should read. |

Yes I am sure, but I just bought the Lonely Planet about it and that's how I found this website and many others.
Have you visited other country in Asia? Cause we plan to go to China, Vietnam, Cambodge, Thailand, and India. So if we can exchange information...
Thanks |

| I've never been to Asia. Again there are many people that use this site that have been through Russia into Asia. I'm sure someone will help you. |
