I will be going to visit my penpal this summer.

I have met two Pen Pals in the past back in 1996. One of them I found out was a lot different in person. We had a nice visit, but the friendship sort of faded. The other Pen Pal and I are still friends, have seen each other several times, and still communicate often. One suggestion I could give you is not to stay in the same flat with your Pen Pal if they ask you. Instead, get a hotel room, at least until you get to know them better in person. Since you are the only one who knows your Pen Pal, you would have to be the one to decide. I have heard bad, and good stories from people I know who did the same thing.
