|
|
Hi,
Im thinking about moving to Moscow in September but first would like to improve the lingo somewhere cheap. I would like to do a 1-2 week intensive course and live with a Russian family. As Im coming from Western Europe, Iwas thinking about Kaliningrad. Does anyone have any input about this place or can recommend somewhere. I presume learning Russian in moscow is a lot more expensive...
Thanks,

You'll be looking to pay about $20/h (academic hour--45min) for one-on-one. If you are lucky you can find something from $16-18. But remember if you pay peanuts, you are likely to get monkies.
Group lessons are cheaper, and could be more fun. Rates vary.
I recommend the courses at www.grint.ru. They also have one-on-one tuition and other cultural programmes. |

I've been in the states 9 years and there has been not a single time anyone asked me to teach them russian. Maybe I live in a "wrong" place. |

There's not too much interest to learn Russian in the US for many reasons. There's no more Cold War, Russia is a closed country in many ways and people who want to learn another language probably turn to Spanish that is much more useful here. And if someone wants to learn Russian, in a city like New York, they will find thousands of immigrants willing to teach them English for little money. |

One thing comes to mind right away it's closed to christian missionary work.
Read the first question in the questionnaire of this site and you'll see it is closed to americans. |

If you would like to learn Russian I would advise to do this in Saint-Petersburg. There are a lot of variety of the schools. You can have lessons with group that would be more cheaper than individual. My penfriend from Canada once learnt Russian here, in Saint-Petersburg. She happily found a very good school, "Extra-Class". She said it was very interesting to study with other people.. Moreover: free visa, tea and coffee, Internet, books, films, and karaoke!!! |

Hey, have you found Russian lessons? I can offer, at 12 euros per 60-minutes lesson. It's my own system, with not only grammar rules and exercises but songs, verses, cultural information too. The course is very diverse and interesting, in fact:) If you are interested please e-mail me, and I'll give you all the details.
Cheers,
