1. Ok, ok, we've had a pretty hard month (trolls and all), but we still need feedback. Please vote in the poll (runs for 3 weeks) and give us any feedback if any. No flaming and keep on topic please. This is the WTR Feedback forum, not Not Relevant or Talk Lounge.
2. You might notice some stickies and other announcement threads taken down/added/edited. Please give us a day or two to get it sorted out, and if you still see an outdated sticky/announcement please let us know.
3. Who wants to be a mod? I'm sure we can use some extra help! Send in the PMs and we will discuss it.

| My vote was "good". I might as well put excellent. But you see, I am being selfish, I guess. I think you guys are the most patient mods I've seen. You warn the argumentative and wait till they change their attitude, rather than kicking them out at the drop of a hat as some mods do on other forums. I personally appreciate it. |

I suppose that would depend on the standards you set. There have been some very vulgar exchanges, and not all in non relevant. I think it would be to everyones benefit if you didn't allow hate mongering, and things like
that, but as you said, you're not babysitters. I would say that a couple people arguing isn't so bad, but when the arguing turns to ethnic hatred, thats a different story, don't you think? I don't think that anyone should allowed to threaten others. This is supposed to be enjoyable, and I have seen many people get run off theses boards by a very few, out of frustration. I agree with Vitali, but maybe a little too patient. Judgement calls can be hard, and they won't please everyone. You are doing what I assume you think is right, so that's what matters. Don't sweat it. You are doing pretty good.
BTW, it is commendable that you do this arduous task for no money, I wouldn't. That's a nice thing to do. I don't know anything about you, but Rick seems like quite a nice fella, easy going, you'd almost think he was a Canadian, oops, I'm gonna get it for that one.

Well, if I said yes, then it would mean you were too patient with me sometimes as well.
An example. When Dowling showed up (and I do not care who that person is or was) he/she should have been banned after about 3 posts.
Also, anyone who uses swearing or derogatory language (words like "stupid", "idiot", dumbass etc.) against other posters outside of Not Relevant should be banned after about 2 warnings. IMHO. |

There have been a lot worse things than those few words, Vitali, thats why I left for a while. I'm not pointing at you in particular, for the most part your language was civil, but the same can't be said for some others. |

| Yes I have to say I think that the mods are a bit too lenient with some of the members including myself. Threats should not be tolerated in these forums and they are supposed to be enjoyable. I've seen a lot of hate come from Xela. And I too have dished it out...but only in reaction to what I've read here. I like this site and I am on it all the time as I find it very informative and interesting. I've even recently used the visa support services. But in know way should any threat be tolerated. |

I have noticed that when Rick or mediashark come in with a word or two, that things usually calm down, and people apologize. After all, we're all supposed to be adults. Maybe just interject your voices a little sooner? Just my opinion. Suit yourselves, of course. I know that eventually some people can find my buttons, and push them, but I accept responsibility for my own behaviour, as should all of us. Most of my anger comes from relentless stalkers. |

| Well I did my research on the member I mentioned and he/she has stirred up quite a bit of trouble over the past couple of years. I actually waited a couple of months before I even posted anything on this site. But death threats are lame. And I am sure it's all rhetoric. I didn't calm down because people intervened I just found it all idiotic-and that's including my own actions. Too much going on in life then what goes on here to get all worked up over. I'm stoked on Russia-hope to be back there in a month or two. Stoked on my GF...but just gotta see where that goes. Just here to enjoy that's all any of us really can do. |

This forum started out as a Q&A for travel/visa advice/questions, it was not originally meant as a general chat-forum, but the chat part of the forum soon became the main activity.
Effectively, there are only 2-3 active mods/admin, and not even one of us can be online at any one time. We cannot read every single post or thread, or keep track of everyone, unless, of course, a complaint is received. All complaints via PM remain private and will be acted on.
Having threads moderated as soon as they appear requires more moderators, as simple as that.
I am worried that there have been too many off-topic/hijacking posts outside of Talk Lounge and Not relevant. Every little comment can be turned into a political debate (often involving Russia and America)--I find it pointless (and frankly, to me most arguments fall flat after 2 posts) . If you want to debate, fine, but don't hijack other peoples' threads. Make your own thread in Not Relevant or Talk Lounge (if you just keep language clean, no flaming, anything is allowed in Talk Lounge).
It is really easier if you spot any flaming, name-calling, threats, hate etc. in the forum outside Not Relevant, send a complaint via PM. You have to watch out for each other, that's all.
Now, if the processing for some new mods go through, we hope things will improve. |
