Hi! Does anyone know if the bit from Lensk to Ust - kut is still running? I know there are tour companies operating there but they are quite expensive. Has anyone just hitched a lift up there? thanks M

Official site of Lena rivership company, that runs ( or runned ) this boat contains no information on schedules...
Route from Ust-kut ( port Osetrovo ) to Yakutsk was terminated in 2005, however Ust-kut - Lensk may be still alive. Try to contact them by
direct@lorp.ru , although they seem to ingore all questions regarding schedules in their guestbook.

Max, I don't know if this helps, but I travelled from Ust Kut to Peleduy in Sept 05. Peleduy is about 100 miles south of Lensk. I took the local hydrofoil which, I think, carries on to Lensk. If you want any further info let me know. Ian
