Dmitri Paranyushkin Guest	Posted: Fri Apr 09, 2004 3:41 am    Post subject: Deepest metro station The deepest metro station in the world is the new Park Pobyedy station (the west end of the blue line, 8 minutes from central Arbatskaya metro). Park Pobyedy (Парк Победы) is 90 meters deep and the escalator lengths is 126 meters (which is also the longest in the world). All numbers and claims are courtesy of Moscow Metro officials. There's no way to tell, little technical details are known about the Pyongyang metro. What's interesting (and relevant for this forum) that the metro, like most metro's in communist countries, was based on the Moscow metro. Yes, it´s probably like this because in communist countries the metro, apart from its transport function, had a more important one: to act as a bomb shelter with complete infrastructure.
