Amen to that.

Canada has got to be one of the best countries in the world. If only they would take in American expats.....

Well.. in all recent 'researches' it was listed amongst the top-4, mostly together with Sweden and sometimes Australia. Many farmers from my country still emigrate there.
An IT-guy I knew was desperate to emigrate there too: Not because of job opportunities, but because of the freedom he percieved there. One of his hobbies was hunting for instance Razz That's not really a thing you can say in Holland without raising eyebrows.

I don't agree with taking American deserters, they signed up for the Armed forces, they should fulfill their duties. Otherwise they should stay out of the Armed forces. I'm happy to welcome regular American Immigration. They contribute to the fabric of our society. I've met a lot of kind and decent Americans in 47 years. They are some of my favourite people.

Farming is getting to be a tough go in Canada, because of the American dumping in our market, especially in the area of fruit orchards. They are shutting dow regularly. For a time the government was paying 18,000 / acre to rip out the trees because we couldn't compete with the American growers. Then the BSE crisis really kicked our beef industry hard. BC's number one cash crop is and has been pot for a long time now. Sad, but true.
I didn't realize that Holland was so anti hunting. It is very popular here.
Prime Minister Harper was very Pro Israel. I don't think he was aware that there are somewhere near 250,000 Lebanese living here, and 50,000 Canadians living in Lebanon. He has since backtracked on his support for Israeli aggression in the middle east. We are sometimes put in a difficult position, because we have so many of the worlds people living here.

Just to correct the obvious, there has never been an Israeli agression in the mideast, it's the opposite the lebanon's agression agains it (plus Iran's and all that stuff). But we do not have to go back and forth on that one.

I personally believe America should leave Canada alone and vise versa. Canada won't be the same without us, America without Canada will be just fine.

When you say us, do you mean Russia, because you aren't an American. The obvious is something in the neighbourhood of 200 Israeli acts of atrocity and torture in Palestine alone. But then Palestinians are just dogs in your eyes, so your self rightousness is to be expected. Muslims mean nothing to Zionists anyway. If America left Canada alone, we would be liked even more in the world. You just have to look past the dollars signs that are blinding you, to see that Canada treats all races better than Bush and his idiots ever will. For all around quality of life, I'll take Canada anyday.
PS. I believe it was Israel that attacked Iran, not the other way around. Iran didn't sneak into Israel and drop bombs, unless I'm wrong. If so, please feel free to correct me. I'll make no further comments about the middle east, so you will have to rant alone, Vitals.

I am somewhat hesitant to weigh in on this topic, but the quoted statement is so laughably incorrect that I must do so. I would agree that Israel is smarter and less brazen in its aggression than some other Middle Eastern countries often are. However, there is no excuse for many Israeli attacks in the occupied territories and in Lebanon. The most recent example is the bombing of the Beirut airport. Hezbollah is to be condemned for its rocket attacks on Israel, but none of these came from the airport. Neither does Hezbollah operate an air force there, nor does any significant amount of aid to Hezbollah come through that airport (it comes across the Syrian border). The bombings of the airport and much other Lebanese infrastructure were short-sighted and spiteful attacks by a frustrated Israel. Israel needs to recognize that these attacks weaken Lebanon and enable Syria and Iran to exert a great deal of influence there. Lebanon is multicultural, and it is not too hard to imagine the establishment of a state tolerant of Israel, if only it could rebuild without Israeli interference. Israel should try to create a relationship with Lebanon like it has with Egypt.

This thread has wandered off the mark, and I'm locking it. I didn't realize that I wasn't responding in "Not Relevant," so anyone who wants to respond should do so in a new thread there.

Bryak, let us know how things are going in a new thread (one that I hope doesn't devolve into Middle Eastern politics).
