I am going to Moscow this summer as a student. I applied for a visa a few months ago that will expire on July 31, but I have recently made plans to stay until Aug 20th. Can I extend my stay or get another visa, or once someone has a visa do they have to leave Russia before it expires?

Hi,

It's very hard to extend a Russian visa, and it's better (and cheaper ultimately!) to just get a tourist visa for 25 days (from end July till 22 August) and leave Russia (to a Baltic state for example) and then come back.

So I can extend my stay by getting a tourist visa for the remainder of my stay. Is it possible to get a tourist visa and not leave the country and re-enter?
