| I'm curious to find some modern popular music from Russia. I'm mainly into all forms of rock. Could anyone reccommend some good Russian groups? Thanks! |

Well, I think you can start with Tatu, two lovely, sexy and up to date russian girls. They covered 'How soon is now', from Smiths. It's not like Morrissey but...I think Tatu is for Russia the same Spice Girls are for Great Britain. But they didn't get a boyfriend like Beckham.
Best wishes for you and Holland. |

| Right, David. So, try some CDs of a group named Ruki Vverkh or Andrey Gubin. They are both interesting and seems very sofisticated. I think you'd like them. I don't know in Holland, but here in Brazil, you can find so many bootlegs of international pop made in Russia. From Beatles to Norah Jones. And some of them of russian music, included Ruki Vverkh. All the best. Castilho. |

Actually Rukhi Vverkh and Andrei Gubin, in my opinion, is the worst pop music from Russia (sorry, castillo ).
If you're more into rock, you can start with the Russian classic bards like Okudzhava and the early 80s rock like BG (Grebenschikov), Kino, then the 90s -- Chaif, still DDT, and the relatively new ones you can see in What's On Moscow and Sst. Petersburg sections of this site (there are archives too). I don't listen to rock, so I can't really recommend anything else... |

| Dmitri is russian, clever and young. I'm older and I don't even speak the language. So, David, follow him. Anyways, I'll keep listen to them and try to find out Dmitri's favorites. Nice weekend for both of you, guys. |

Hi, All I am a U.S. Marine who is in love with a Great Russian woman. We both are very much into music of all kinds. Could anyone shed some light on where I might find a sight like WinMX.com that has a good posting of Russian music. I have used this sight to search for," Philip Kirkorov", " Valeria ", " Chaif " and " Splin" with only having luck finding music by Splin.
I would also like to go on record saying " This sight is AWESOME" |

I wish to thank you for the help and also the kind words. I haven't been on active service in the Marines for several years, But " Once a Marine Always a Marine".
I would also like to say to anyone else out there, Please do not assume We ( U.S. Marines ) are all cocky, arrogant and full of ourselves, While some are, This Marine has traveled all over the globe, learning that People everywhere all share many things in common. I will always be very proud of being a Marine, Just as I would expect someone from any country who served their country's best military service to feel. I will also always know that without open minds and an extended hand of peace and friendship, We ( the entire world ) will always be misunderstood and at odds with one another.
I am new to this site and felt I should get that out in the open. I do thank you for your help and kind words and must salute you and this site for such a great effort toward Sharing their world with others.
If anyone has a question about my part of the world I would welcome the opportunity to share as well. |

You're completely right, Tanker. I now what you mean. I use to read the site USMC.mil. And I like to read about the operations of US Marine Corps in World War II, also.
If you find a new and good russian musician, like Dylan ou Leonard Cohen, my favorites, pls let me know. |

| Great Alyona. As I can see,. you're the best in russian rock'n'roll. I'm gonna listen to all these groups. I realized lately the russian music has keen levels between folk or pop and rock. Nice spring to you in Moscow. |
