Hi,

I am going to Valdivostok later this year. My flight (Aeroflot) will take me from JFk New York to SVO in Moscow. There I have an 8 hour lay over.
I then take another Aeroflot flight to Valdivostok. I will be traveling light (just acarry on small suite case) . I have a question about custom and passport control. Will I have to go thorugh custom and passport control both in moscow and in Valadivostok?

Flying domestiacly in US, once one reaches its destintion airport then
there is no need to do any checking, just collect your belonging and exit.
Will it be the same for foriegn travler going from Moskow to Valadivostok?

Thnks for any information on this.

You will have normal security checks, they will want to see your passport and visa, no customs check.

You will also have to show your ticket many times before you board the domestic flight so don't put it too far away. Anyone with baggage in the hold also needs to show their ticket at the destination to prove they have the right bag.

Do the Vladivostok flights leave from SVO2 or will ansonia77 have to transfer to SVO1?

After checking various websites in all likelihood, I will arrive at SVO2 and
catch the connecting flight to Vladivostok at SVO1.

I am planning to buy some gifts in Moskow to take to Valadivostok,
provided that I need not go through any further custom check in Valadivostok.

But more importantly I also would like to let my meeting party in Valadivostok when to met me at the Valadivostok airport.

My realtive is grudgingly comming to pick me, and l don't want hear him complaining how long he had to wait! If leaving the Airport at arrivel to Valadivostok is straight forward (no checking, no lines, no passport control) I can just give him the time my filght arrives. Otherwise I will have to take into account of the time spent in aforementioned procedures.

Thanks
( I know it is rather trivial matter, but after a long trip, there is nothing worse than to drive with a grumbling relative).

You should just come off the plane and into the arms of your waiting relative.
