I will be staying in an apartment in St Petersburg for about 4 days and then traveling to Moscow to stay in a hotel or apartment for about 3 days. Will I need tourist invitations for both locations or can I apply for the tourist invitation in St Petersburg and use for my travels to Moscow? Thanks.

You only need one invitation when applying for your visa, but you should register your visa in both cities. Last year I was in Moscow for 10 days, and St. Petersburg for 4 days. I only registered in Moscow, and I had no trouble with customs when I was leaving. This year I stayed in Moscow for one night at a hotel, and had my visa registered there. I also spent a week in another city, and had my visa registered by an agency there. I was stopped by the police when I returned to Moscow to catch my departing flight. They asked to see my passport to check my visa and migration card. I made sure to point out to them that everything was in order (stamped & registered), and they didn't give me too much trouble. Wink
