Tatiana Davydenko, head of Krasnoyarsk statistics service, announced it at the press conference Thursday. According to Davydenko, a recent study held in the region showed that the attitude of young couples to having children has changed greatly. First of all, the reasons why young people refuse to have children have changed. "The first reason used to be financial difficulties, the second one was housing problems, while now the main reason why people refuse to have children is lack of confidence in the future. Young people say they have no future," Tatiana Davydenko explained. The study showed that a married man wants to have more children than a woman, the expert added. In comparison with 2000 when about 60,300 abortions had been done, the rate decreased, Davydenko said. "However, it does not show that women have begun to do fewer abortions. The decrease is connected with decrease of birth rate directly," Davydenko explained. Of the total number 40 abortions were done by girls aged under 15, and about 5,000 – by girls aged between 15 and 19. The highest abortion rate is young women aged from 20 to 34 – 33,300 abortions. Women aged over 35 did more than 8,200 abortions in 2006." http://english.newslab.ru/news/223376
