You even have these phrases that don't exist in other languages:
vse, ya poskakal/pobejal...Is life for you about running and racing?
I come from a more laid-back culture, that likes to sit and talk for hours in front of a single cup of coffee and just don't understand it. Also, it seems to me you don't like to talk much, you are always busy. When I ask a question , the answer is a sharp Yes or No, and any further explanation is usually squeezed out as if in pain. Is it just me, or there is really a cold arrogance in the Russian's attitude? Explain, please. |

If you press hard enough, they are pretty warm and fuzzy people to me. It's just that a lot of Russians tend to put on a cold front. However I have had very people who are warm on the inside and out. But yeah, it think it's kinda like a 'hurry up and wait' culture rather than just hurrying... |

| Ihave a simple answer. It is not true. We have very large country with different nations. I think you basicly speaking to people who are from the big cities and like in other world always in a hurry. In a small siberian tawn you will see an other situation. |

| What Anoki has said is definitely true for Moscow. As a city boy I think rat race is what we have to pay here for more job opportunities and better salaries. I suspect it is somewhat true for many big cities of the world, e.g. Paris, NY, San Paolo, Istanbul etc. To a greater or lesser extent, of course. It would be interesting to hear some observations from people who have had a chance to feel the difference of living in different places. |

When living in London years ago, I immediately noticed how so many customers rushed while shopping the aisles in the grocery stores (Tesco, for example). We all know that buying groceries isn’t the most exciting activity in the world, but most of them acted so hell-bent on grabbing stuff off the shelves as fast as possible, then getting in and out of the place at break-neck speeds. Maybe this is slightly exaggerated, but the pace of the city was noticeably different from where I came from - just an observation from the new boy in town at the time. |

Was the IRA active at the time? English stores sometimes attract unfortunate circumstances. |

Yes. Not only the IRA, but it was during a time when every single paramilitary group were at each other's throats. There was a lot more activity back then - and much of it was very unfortunate. |

| Rain appears to be one thing that will slow Muscovites down. If you've ever seen the number of people jamming Metro exits when it is pouring rain outside, you'll think umbrellas are a luxury item in Moscow. |
