Delta from JFK to SVO. Transfer to DME then continue on to the interior via DME/S7

I need to transfer to the DME airport. I have 10 hours.

Should I arrange for a driver before I arrive?

There are many available online / on this site.

I have a LOOONG layover. Is there a nother normal procedure to make the transfer?

Hello and thanks. I will be posting a lot over the next weeks I am sure.

Great resource!

Steve, I cannot tell you how long it will take to transfer, nor can I advise on how to spend your long layover. I would advise, however, that you do make arrangements to have a driver meet you (with an agreed upon price) prior to your arrival at SVO!
I don't think you want to find a driver from the gypsy guys falling over themselves to take you for a ride (no pun intended)!

If you travel light, the "normal procedure" may be to take a bus to Rechnoy Vokzal, then take metro to the center of Moscow, you will have 5 hours to enjoy Moscow. Then take a local train or express train to Domodedovo from Paveletskiy station (Paveletskaya metro station) or take a bus or binibus from Domodedovskaya metro station.
If you prefer to take a taxi, there is a taxi desc in SVO and many private taxi drivers who will pester you right after the customs. Actually I wouldn't recommend you private taxis although they are cheaper.

Cool... are you really a talk show host? I have finalized my plans (a bit). I have arranged for a car service to my hotel. I will be staying in the center of the city for the weekend and then continuing on to my final destination. I may give up my flight for a train ticket. I have enough information and a decent reservation at a very nice hotel that with 2 days notice, I should be able to get a train ticket through the front desk.

What helped me to change my plans was... I found a ticket direct to Moscow. It was so inexpensive that I could afford 2 nights in a 3 star hotel and a train ticket to my destination too! I am giving up on flying direct with a huge layover and stretching out my stop over in Moscow to relax and really enjoy the place. (2 days) All that with almost no price increase. I will keep looking for other travelers that would like some advice once I start learning my way around.

Thanks again for the advice.
