ilearn Just Starting Joined: 04 Mar 2007 Posts: 1	Posted: Sun Mar 04, 2007 11:11 am    Post subject: renewing registration after 6 months - have to leave Russia? i arrived in ekaterinburg in september with 12 months multiple entry business visa. However i could get registered only for 6 months. this is expiring very soon, and the agency who did my registration says they can only register me for another six months if i first leave the country, go to another country, and come back to russia. has anybody else had to do that, or heard of such a rule? I think Kasachstan is not possible, since i would need another visa to go there (I am German citizen), so from ekaterinburg i woud have to travel VERY far, and i want to avoid this big expense. It seems like a strange rule, as it would not benefit the Russian authorities in any way - i would rather pay them a fee. On your website i have not found anything about such a rule. but i have read about new rules since Jan 2007 - do the rules about mailing in registrations also apply here in Ekaterinburg? Can i use that without leaving Russia? nobody here seems to know about such new rules.

Still, when I had a one-year, multi-entry visa, I don't recall having to register more than once. I did it through my friend's apartment, and maybe that was the difference.......and of course I came and left 4 different times during the validity of my visa. I'm sure there are folks here who can answer your questions though. I only hope they will.
