The death toll in Chechnya is estimated at 150 to 160 thousand, so if you assign that number to Pootie, he is getting up there. So I guess in that respect, Jojo's thought has some merit.

And out of that about 40 to 50 thousand are Russians raped and killed in cold blood by Chechens. Please don't start on this with me. it's really an old sore spot.

I'm not starting on anybody with anything. This is an open forum. With all due respect, everyone has the right to say whatever they wish. And that story goes both ways. There are deaths, and less than honourable actions on both sides of that situation. Everybody here is well aware of how Putin deals with rebels, and vice versa. As a point of interest, 70 % of Russians believe that Russia should negotiate with the separatists, and only 16% think the military campaign should continue. Putin is afraid that if he lets them secede, then more will want to separate. And Russia invaded Chechnya.
There have been numerous human rights violations on both sides. It is documented fact. So I suppose we know which side you are on. I'll respect that, but I'm not about to shut up, simply because you say so. Sorry, doesn't work that way here.

P.S.
I'm afraid I can't vote for you. I don't think you would do a very good job of ruling the planet. Your views are a little too one sided.

The reason for the second Chechen war was the invasion of Dagestan by Chechen rebels, where as sonn as they came in they killed every Russian they could find.

Invaded?! You need to understand that Chechnya was a part of Russia for at least 200 years. lol Invaded! How can we "invade" our own country? Can you tell me this?

Dumping graves were found all over Chechnya with mutalated bodies of Russians in them. Once again did I mention Beslan. Seriously I watched, on TV, how those people suffered. They also showed disgusting videos of Chechens executing Russian soldiers! On Canadian TV! I have nothing against Canada, but how you can defend these BASTARDS, these MURDERERS, is beyond me! But the respect is mutual. Also, so you know, most Chechens that died in that war, died as a result of the rebels using their own civillians as a human shield. Think about that as well. That's the kind of barbarians you are protecting here! Just some food for thought, that's all.

One sided huh. I'll tell you why. The Chechens once blew up a bus in Moscow in '95. My grandma was in it. I loved my grandma very much, and the day after I felt that if I go outside and I met a Chechen right now I'd rip his fuckin heart out of his chest with my bear hands and make himeat it! Now though, I studied this war, I know both sides did many bad things there. The Russians and the Chechens just want one thing now, and that is to forget about this crap and move on!

Defending????? Do you have comprehension issues? I never expressed favour either way. I said that both sides have violated human rights. I can start using bold print if you like. I don't protect murderers, no matter which side they are on. Start reading what I write twice, and then type a response ok? Don't accuse me of defending murderers, or terrorists.

I'd have to say that I'd probably feel the same way as you, in your situation. Which is why I would not be fit to rule the world, either. I probably would not hesitate to kill someone who killed a member of my family. But, that surely wouldn't solve anything, would it? By the way, I am sorry for your loss. We are very fortunate here, in that we rarely have to deal with those kind of things.

I agree both sides violated human rights. I am just saing the Russian Army had no choice in the matter. With no disrespect, Canada, despite all it's past and present military achievements wich were and are quite impressive has never been in a conflict like this one. It has never had to deal with an enemy that strikes from within, that attacks schools, murders children, blows up buses, etc. I think USA sort of know what I am talking about since 9/11, but even then, they don't have the terrorists right there inside their country. Anyway, I don't know why you are getting so defencive (stupid keyboard made me type "offencive" instead lol), I am just giving you some more infor mation on this issue then what you heard "poor" "freedom fighters" say on BBC that's all. Just... you know, another perspective. Kind of like Israeli vs. Palestinian point of view.

Thank you. Canada is fortunate to have a thinking government that uses military as a VERY last resort option only. It's not the case in Russia, hence all the problems.

You just finished accusing me of supporting terrorists, and murderers, and then you call me offensive? I don't watch the BBC. I watch CBC, and they never sided with either, ( just like I didn't) We could have had a terrorist attack here. We were just fortunate enough to catch them before they got a chance to do their deed. We had a gunman kill students in a Montreal college here, and a few other incidents as well, so we are not in some kind of coccoon here. Anyway, it's time to crash. I don't wish to be attacked any more tonight for things I never said. Good night.

Actually I meant: "Why are you getting so defencive" DEFENCIVE not OFFENCIVE
I just chose the wrong word. Sorry!

RusskiiCanadian you are not just another Bush-bashing, Israel-hating canadian as I thought you were. You've got a gray matter all right. Sorry, I misread you.
