Hi, I've done a search but not found anything. I am thinking of meeting a friend from Russia in Spain for a holiday. I'm looking for advice on where to search for holidays, and if getting a visa would be a problem. I intend to either rent an apartment or use a friends villa. Any help will be welcomed. I'm hoping to go in July for two weeks plus.

Err.... I'm sorry I didn't quite understand you. Do you seriously need visa to go to Spain? Your friend in Russia should contact the nearest Spanish Embassy/ Consulate to get visa. That is the cheapest way. I don't know if travel agencies would make getting visa any cheaper or easier, anyway, if you/your friend live(s) in a city where is a Soanish consulate/embassy it is probably not worth of paying to a travel agency to get your visa. Spain is the most tourist country in Europe, so you won't have any problems in finding suitable tourist information about Spain.... And even if you're not planning to visit Costa del Sol or other tourist spots, you'll find the information more than easily. Allthough I wouldn't recommend you to go to Spain in July, it is killing hot out there then! If you really have to go there in July, then go to Barcelona or to some smaller town or village in the north east of Spain. You could also try Galicia, in case if they have got rid of all that oil by now.

cheers...no I don't need a visa..I was looking for an easy way to book a flight from Russia and whether it would be better to use a travel agent to book or for me to book online. I've been to Barcelona three times, its where I'll probably choose. I know it will be very hot but July is the only time I can spare til later in the year. I'm not really a fan of the costas as its hard to find any decent Spanish food and Barcelona is full of fabulous Tapas bars, clubs, Goudi buildings/park, and NOT full of fellow drunken Brits !!.

If you have already been 3 times in Barcelona, why don't you try to go somewhere else ?
Basque area could be a nice choice, very welcoming people and the Basque cuisine is damn good Very Happy
